Exploring ChatGPT's Potentials in Teaching Technical Writing

ChatGPT and other Large Language Models (LLMs) have the potential to revolutionize communication, with significant implications for fields such as technical writing. This study involved technical writing students from five courses at Michigan State University, engaging them in a two-phase experiment where they first crafted technical instructions for various Google Suite applications, then performed usability tests on these instructions as well as comparable sets generated by ChatGPT using the same prompt.
